Weekend of Dinners

This past weekend was full of special meals.... on Friday night I attended a special dinner for two ladies who have worked at the Hospital Vozandes Oriente for 25 impressive years. It was held at a very tranquil restaurant, Flor de Canela, in the neighboring town of Puyo. We sang worship songs, had a brief message, and encouraging words to the honored woman. There was a band that sang/played for us which was exciting. It was like being serenaded. Although I don't personally work at the hospital, I often visit friends who do and so I have become somewhat of a familiar face in the building. It was nice to see everyone outside of their work enjoying themselves.

Also, on Saturday the Nazarene chruch was having a dinner for mothers in honor of the upcoming Mother's Day (*hint hint* to all of you who are unaware). I helped set up the tables, chairs, iron the tableclothes and put up decorations. There were about 30 couples who came for the dinner. It started at 7:00 although food wasn't served until maybe 9:300. It was a long night, several other people from the youth group helped serve the couples and clean up. I wasn't my usual enthusiastic and energetic self most of Saturday, and it was sweet that a friend of mine was worried and wanted to make me feel better and so got me some chocolate (what can I say, it doesn't take long to figure out that a way to bring a smile to my face is to give me chocolate!). I just found myself unusually unhappy and I didn't like my own attitude. I have always been taught that your attitude is a choice and with that in mind, I really had to dig deep and seek the Lord's help to change my attitude to one that would be pleasant. Overall it seemed the dinner was a success. The youth had an opportunity to say a few words to their moms in appreciation and likewise the parents had the chance to share their love for their children. It was another great time of connecting with the youth and sharing experiences.
