Landslide!

As a very dear person to me frequently says... HIGH ADVENTURE! Well, it certainly felt that my grandmother and I encountered some adventures. On our way to Banos our bus stopped and we all had to get off (in the rain) and the bus turned around and left. There we were stranded on one side of a fairly large landslide blocking the one road used to get from Shell to Banos. There were still some rocks falling as we watched. I asked how long they thought the road would be blocked up and of course every Ecuadorian has a different idea. So after about a half hour to 45 minute wait, we caught a ride back to Shell.
Once in Shell, we got a phone call stating that the road was indeed clear now. Once again we set off back to Banos. This time we prevailed and while we still had to wait, we were able to make it to Banos. I was just impressed with the thought of perseveranceand not giving up. It would have been easy to give up and not attempt another time to get to Banos. How quickly we are ready to retreat! Yet, time after time God calls us back, never giving up on us, no matter how many times we turn around and lose sight of the goal.
"And not only that, but we also glory in tribulation, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character; hope. Now hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us." Romans 5:3-5

I am enjoying reading your adventures. I remember this one well as it was also one of mine. I was stuck on the other side for about three hours.
