...the classroom roof is leaking! Only in Shell, Ecuador do the students need umbrellas at their desks. Well, in truth we had the umbrellas up mainly for a good photo but it was indeed leaking all over the classroom. It's amazing how your perception changes in circumstances. In any other school a serious leak would be a horrible problem but here, we shrug our shoulders and say "that's Shell for you!".
Whenever it rains for hours (which is quite often) I often think of the song, "Send Your Rain, Oh Lord" and I smile to think about how I hadn't meant rain in the literal sense! (I also think of the song, "It's Raining Men" but that seems less appropriate!). I am thankful for the rain though, as it brings so much life and allows everything to grow so vibrantly.
"He sends the springs into the valleys;
They flow among the hills. They give drink to every beast of the field; The wild donkeys quench their thirst. By them the birds of the heavens have their home; They sing among the branches; He waters the hills from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of Your works." Psalm 104: 10-13
