Shell Parade

Shell Week! NSMS took part in the parade through Shell, where the students and myself did a country dance to the tune of "God Blessed Texas"! I never thought that I would be doing this on the mission field, but God calls us to do things we never dreamed of, right? Here are some pictures of the great students in our bluejeans and bandanas! It was an awesome experience to participate with the community as a school. I am personally SO proud of the students and what an excellent job they did with the steps and their attitudes. I had taught the 2nd and 3rd graders the dance steps so it was exciting for me to see them do it SO well in the parade! They worked hard!

It was rainy all morning but it cleared up for the afternoon and got sunny just in time for the parade. Last year NSMS didn't participate in the parade, we just went and watched/cheered for the other schools. It was quite a different experience being a part of it this time...I am glad that I had the chance to be a part of it. I hope that the Ecuadorians were able to see our joy and love from this and that they will view us as a part of their community not just as "those foreigners...over there". It has always been important to me that I immerse myself in the culture and really get to know the people and get involved with them on a personal level. I thank God for giving me the strength to do that, becuase it is not always easy but I know that this is how I can be a light to others and share what God has done in my life.
