Think about it...

The Ecuadorian culture does not usually use plans and schedules as Americans do. Most activities and get togethers are spontaneous and spur of the moment. Since I like to participate in these random activities I try to make sure that my scheduleis flexible. A prime example would be Tuesday evening, when at 7:00 I was invited to play a pick-up game of basketball over in Puyo. Naturally, I agreed to go and so I dropped whatever I was doing that instant and went. It was not always so easy for me to be flexible with my time. I like organization and schedules. I had to condition myself not to be as time oriented and to be laidback instead. Because I have been willing to let go of my control over a schedule, I have reaped many blessings of fun times with my Ecuadorian friends.
Let's take this concept a bit deeper...how many times to we confine God to our schedules? I just finished reading The God Catchers by Tommy Tenney and it has challenged me to be flexible for God. I need to let go of my scheduled time with God and be ready to be a part of His spontaneous blessings. Every moment, God is there ready to be a part of our lives, ready to pour out His Spirit but so many times we think...now is not the time...I can only give You 30 mintues and then I've got plans...Where is our flexibility? Where is our willingness to participate in His activities? Do I drop whatever I'm doing at the moment when He calls...Talk to me! Pray about this...listen to my voice...I want to be ready to respond in that moment.
