The call

"The call of God can never be stated explicitly; it is implicit.
The call of God is like the call of the sea, no one hears it but the one who has the nature of the sea in him.  It cannot be stated definitely what the call of God is to, because His call is to be in comradeship with Himself for His own purposes, and the test is to believe that God knows what He is after.  The things that happen do not happen by chance, they happen entirely in the decree of God.  God is working out His purposes."
-My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers

We have a new neighbor.  She lives above us in a small apartment and is working as a doctor.  She's originally from Quito and so her father comes to bring her home on the weekends and then drops her back off at the beginning of the week.  We had the chance to sit and talk with them one night and share a little about ourselves and what we're doing with Young Life.  As Ivan told the story of how he began a Club for teens and someone helped him come up with a name (and they found Vida Joven on the internet and liked it) and for several years reached out to kids, our new friends sat mesmerized at how the pieces of the puzzle fit together bit by bit.  Later, Ivan found out that Vida Joven was in fact an established international organization, based in the United States under the name of Young Life.  As Ivan shared with me over the years about Club and his heart to reach the teenagers, his stories seemed to align exactly with what my sister was a part of in Virginia.  My sister attended Young Life  in high school and later continued on as a leader in Wyldlife.  After some investigation, we realized that Young Life goes by the name of Vida Joven in Latin American countries and while it was established in many countries around the world, it had yet to be established in Ecuador.  I sent some e-mails and soon there were connections being made between Young Life and Ivan.  In May 2012, Young Life was established in Ecuador!

As Ivan shared, the father of our new neighbor, waved his arms and said, "Wait a minute! Wait a minute!  This is not a coincidence!  This cannot be just a coincidence; that years before the two of you began to date, and that Rachel's sister would be a leader in this same organization and able to help make the connection for you!  This is not by chance that the name chosen was one and the same as this international organization!  It must be God putting this together!  It must be!"

Sometimes I forget how God put it together.  Sometimes I need to listen to my own story, and be in awe, just like our new friends, and exclaim, "This is not a coincidence!  It must be God putting this together!"  Oh, that I may continue to hear the call of God and believe that He knows what He is after!  To marvel at His works and say, "It must be God putting this together!"
It causes me to wonder, what is happening right now, that when we look back we will see clearly how it fits together?  It gives me great excitement to think how God uses all; nothing is ever wasted.
