I was sitting here all ready to type away about the holidays and things that have been going on in my life, when I was side tracked. Not an uncommon thing, as I easily get distracted. I'm listening to some random music, and a song by Celine Dion came on. It's called, "Live for the one I love". And for some reason that line just really struck me. (now obviously this song is about a person she loves, and a relationship). However, I listened to her sing, and thought; Do I live for the one I love? "the one" being God. That would require that I love Him. That would require that I take action to show that I love Him. Do I live my life for Him?The lyrics also go on to say, "give asking nothing in return". If we really take some of these thoughts to heart, they run deep. "I want the world to hear my cry, even if I have to die. Love will not die. Love will change the world." And it did. Love did change the world.
Romans 5:7-8 "Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Sometimes I get so wrapped up in other things that I pass over some of the most important things. It's easy to get distraced by all the holiday decorations and get togethers. To focus on the gifts, the food, the fun instead of on the giver, the provider, the One who gives us true joy. Take a moment to reflect upon the amazing gift God has given each one of us. The gift of life. We all mess up. We are all sinners. And despite the fact that we were stained by our wrongdoings, Christ died for us. He laid down His life, so that we could experience abounding joy and peace from the Father. I want to love God so much that I live for Him. I pray that as I enter into this new year of 2007 that "I live for the One I love".
