Stuff A Shoebox!

Someone asked me what types of things would be useful if sent down to Ecuador, or what is needed. I've taken some time to comprise a list of items that I thought of. The mail system is not always relient however. Ask my mom! It has taken me up to 2 months to recieve a shoebox sized package! I've found that the best way to recieve things was through a group or a person coming from the States on a mission trip!!! (any takers?) :)
In any case, here's what I came up with. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

  • School supplies (pencils, folders, glue, erasers, books....)
  • Ministry Items the salvation bracelets are an excellent tool (the ones with the different colors that represent the salvation story), Spanish tracts, Christian literature in spanish, Bible story coloring books, some of the youth in the Nazarene church have started to use dramas and songs to evangelize in neighboring areas, so items like facepaint, white mime gloves, etc.
  • Any type of clothing...The Mission Hospital in Shell tries to give out clothes to many patients from poorer regions such as the jungle or in the mountains. (the best type of skirts would be ones with elastic waists to fit all sizes and longer lengths).
  • Hygene products - stick to the basics like toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush, soap, shampoo... The hospital sends out medical caravans, which are a group of people who may spend a day or a week giving medical care to smaller villages/towns. Many times they also try to teach the people about how to stay healthier by simple cleanliness. It would be a benefit for the group to have supplies to hand out.
  • The Casa de Fe Orphanage (which is located right down the street from me) also has items they could use. You can find those at the website http://www.lacasadefe.org/ Click on "How You Can Help" and then on the bottom of the page there is a link for "Needs". But please check out the rest of the website to learn more about what they do!

I will try to update the list as new needs arise. One of the best things you can send are your prayers and they go directly to God. I'm so glad that they will never get lost in the mail!

  • c/o Hospital Vozandes Oriente
  • Shell, Pastaza
  • Ecuador, SA

So go ahead and stuff a shoebox and share God's love!
